Better known as Rafi, Reffo, Ralph or Raphael, he incarnates different nationalities and associates his name with them. He juggles with different accents and enjoys posing on stage as a comedian or dramatist. He performed in major productions by Chekov, Pirandello, Ibsen, Gorki, Miller, Shakespeare and others. Rafi worked in the airlines, hotels and tourism industries for all his life.

His passion for music goes back to 1966, in Cairo, where he learnt music with his beloved piano teacher Olympia Rossi, otherwise known to him as Mama Oly. She would receive him after school with a bowl of boiling broth full of home made boiled Raviolis, give him his meal and start his piano lesson for 90 minutes 2 or 3 times a week. She taught him piano, theory, harmony, counterpoint and dramaturgy of music. His passion for music and drama took him all the way to inspiring orchestral tunes while walking by the riverside, sitting in the park or riding the subway and transcribing it to sheet music, for all instruments and vocals, with absolutely no access to actual instruments just until he reached home and refined it. He created over 15 hours of orchestral music rotating around typical themes as those that Stanislavski and his scholar, Chekov, recounted in their theatrical drama. These themes range from war and peace on to love and hatred or to encounter and separation.

He is influenced by Johannes Sebastian Bach, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ludvig Van Beethoven, Rimsky Korsakov and Sergei Rachmaninof. In 1987 he immigrated to Canada and has been living there until this day in February 1, 2010. For the past five consecutive years, he lived in Montreal.

Rafi has various musical compositions that are ready for publication and that can suite various dramatic themes. They are also soothing, passionate and lasting. Looking for a theme for your film or documentary please contact the artist or visit: http://www.sonicbids.com/FieldsofMemories

This biography is in loving memory of his music teacher, Olympia Rossi, who taught him that harmony is not simply a choice of notes but, mostly, a way of life interpreted to others.
